Chicago & Door County!

Over the 4th of July, my husband & I took a little mini vacay to Chicago!  Neither of us had really been there before.  We found a great price on a hotel room, so away we went :D  The drive wasn't too bad & it was so fun to get to drive up to the Windy City!  We were both surprised by how big it actually is.  Minneapolis looks puny compared to Chicago!  We stayed at a Hyatt just a block off of Michigan Ave & only a few blocks from Navy Pier - it was an awesome location!  And an awesome room :)  We got upgraded to an executive suite since we were there celebrating our 1st anniversary.  Thank you Lord!

We got to watch fireworks on the 4th at the Navy Pier, ate out a few times, went on the Architectural boat tour of the city (highly recommend if you want to see a large chunk of the city without having to walk all of it!), Sears (Willis) Tower, the Museum of Science & something, ate at Gino's Pizza East, and got some of the famous popcorn on our way out of town!  Whew!  It was busy, but lots of fun to see.

After that we drove up to Door County, WI for 2 nights, which was also a lot of fun.  It's a very quaint area with gorgeous beaches & just untouched beauty!  I also highly recommend going there if you're looking for a place to get away to.  It's just a cute area with a lot to see & do.  We camped out for the 2 nights we were there, so were able to go there for pretty cheap.  We were dreaming about how fun it would be to have a sail boat that we could take from MN & go through Lake Superior on to Lake Michigan & just explore that way!  Maybe someday.........

Here's a few pics!

We had the cutest little tour guide ever!  I would go back again just to see her :)  Did I mention we were there when it was over 100 degrees & they were breaking heat records?!  Yeah, it was HOTTTT!!!!

After being in line for 2 hours, we finally made it to the top of the sears/willis tower - what an incredible view from 103 stories up!  We did go in the glass lookout - pretty cool but freaky at the same time!

From one extreme.....

To the other.....  :D

Lake Michigan is beautiful!

Once we got around the corner, there was a gorgeous white sand beach that went on for miles!  Would love to have a cabin here someday - anyone want to join us?!
